First results of summer ‘10
Lisatud: 31.05 2010
Let’s start with the latest one, the main tournament for us in Estonia this summer Sprite Streetball Estonian Championship.
First tournament was held at Mustakivi Auto Parking lot in Lasnamäe, Tallinn. All together there was 94 teams competing in 9 categories. We had teams both in Elites and Amateurs.
First about the Amateurs team. Mirko, Tormi, Siim and Imre started off quietly, losing the first game. Second game was a tight one also, but our guys managed to get the W in overtime. In play-offs first round they faced familiar team Deckol Ehitus and this time E,E came out victorious. In quarterfinals the run for the win of the first stop this summer ended. Team Nahhker came out stronger and went on to the semifinals. Making it to the quarterfinals gave Ei, Emotsioon 2 overall points in the championship run, which places them on places 4-7, since Iisaku KK/Mandavoskad, who came third, were disqualified for violating the rules. Olympic-Online.com took the win of the first stop and is in the lead.

Anthony, Erik, Marko and Taavi were competing in the Elites for the first time. Since the hopes weren’t set very high, the team went to play the games relaxed and without pressure. In forehand it can be said that all the games were tight ones and winner was decided in the last seconds. First opponent in group stage was Vaheta.ee, who had 1 point lead only 2 seconds before regulation. A poor defencive play and a floater by Anthony sent the game to overtime. In overtime the first posession is always drawed and E,E got lucky. With two good screens our guys played Anthony for another clear look and 1 point win in overtime secured Ei, Emotsioon a place in the play-offs. Second group stage game was against Sportland, which consisted of current and former Estonian Championship league players. Once again the game was very close, this time the opposite team came out stronger and took the first place in group by two wins.
In quarters E,E faced last summers Elite division champs team Juhatus. This game was all about Erik, who sinked shot after shot. Finally, at 11:11 score, our team was in foul trouble and on the court with only Erik and Taavi. But even with two men guarding Erik didn’t stop him. Erik hit the last runner with hand in his face and took E,E to the semifinals, leaving last years champs with 2 overall points from first stop.
In semis E,E continued where they had stopped and led the game 9:5 against another team with former Championship league players, Nike. But the end of the game was a disaster, our team couldn’t close out the game in their hands already and had to settle with 3-4 place game.
In the last game E,E had to meet Sportland again. Once again the game was a close one and the outcome was the same as in group stage. Ei, Emotsioon came 4th in their Elites debut and is holding overall 4th place also with 4 points.
So the first stop in Sprite Streetball Championships could be taken as a success for both teams and it is good to go on from these standings.

Another tournament, that was held on May 16th at Viimsi, was successful for Ei, Emotsioon. This tournament was played indoors Erik, Mirko and Imre had 7 games, 5 wins and 2 losses. Unfortynately, the second loss came in finals against Baywatch Forever, which meant 2nd place for our team.

Next tournament will be at Lõunakeskus parking lot, Tartu, on June 12th. Both teams will go for better results and hopefully we’ll get our first place on the podium in this summers Sprite Streetball.
Erik, Anthony and Marko are also chasing their first medal from the Tallinn Championship 2010 with KK Välk. This Wednesday they’ll meet Nõmme Rim in the semifinals at 18.00 in Näituste Paviljon in Tallinn. Come and help our guys to get the win.
